1 bunch cilantro
juice of 2 limes
2 inches ginger

Hubby's Morning Smoothie:

Sunflower and Pumpkin Seed Milk
1 cup frozen strawberries

My lunch was a combination of delish dishes!!
My Broccoli Arame Salad- blog post on Sunday.
Zucchini Noodles with Cheesy Sunflower Garlic Dressing- this dressing is my new fave!!
Cheesy Sunflower Garlic Dressing

1 stalk green onion
¾ cup hemp oil
2 tbsps chick pea miso paste
1 ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 ½ tbsps fresh lemon juice
2 tbsps nutritional yeast
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
Dash of salt

Use Spirooli or Spiral Slicer to make Zucchini noodles.  Add all dressing ingredients to vitamix blender, blend, pour over noodles and toss.  Garnish with a few shakes of nutritional yeast and chopped scallions.

Plus i had a few bites of Susie Sprout Beet Sprout Salad!!

Tonight the boys drank smoothies with their dinner.  They love drinking their smoothie out of to-go plastic cups so i save them and we reuse.  i know this is not great but they will drink almost anything if they are in those cups!!

1 cup homemade vanilla almond milk
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp coconut nectar

E3-Live is made from blue green algae (Aphanizomanon flos-aquae or AFA) in frozen, live form. Taking daily supplements of E3-Live can have great benefits on inflammation, cholesterol levels, and most notably, immunity. E3-Live can also have benefits on the mood, energy, concentration, and has even been seen to lessen depression in patients. For optimal benefits, one can ingest E3-Live by thawing the desired amount (1 teaspoon per day) and consuming the product straight or mixing it in water or juices.

Today was a fabulous cleanse day!!  I had a colonic this morning followed by a great workout at equinox.  I drank green juices and munched on chlorella tablets all afternoon till 3:30ish.

Today I worked on many recipe creations.  Some i will take to the potluck tomorrow and others i will enjoy for my meals.  I got lots of great pics too.  Loads of fun in the kitchen. I was creating from 3:30-7:30ish.  It was finally 7:30 until i had everything cleaned up!!

I have a few favorites from today but i need to share this one because its tough to eat broccoli raw but this recipe makes it really easy!!

Broccoli Arame Salad
1 bunch broccoli florets, chopped small
½ cup arame, soaked
½ cup hijiki, soaked
½ cup red pepper, diced
¼ cup daikon, shredded
¼ cup carrot, shredded
¼ cup coconut amines or wheat-free tamari

Ginger Dressing
¼ cup lemon juice
1 tbsp ginger, grated
¼ cup flax oil (or sesame oil)
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tbsp kelp powder
Dash sea salt
Dash cayenne

Add all salad ingredients to a bowl and mix.  Whisk dressing ingredients together, add to salad and toss.  Lay out nori sheet, add mixture to one half of sheet, add sliced avocado and sprouts of choice, roll tightly and cut with serrated knife into bite size pieces.

See you tomorrow at the Potluck!!

Dandelion Greens & Sprout Salad with Nutrient Dense Dressing!!

Happy Detox Day 5 for all my Detoxers!!  You must be feeling fabulous by now!!  congratulations on all your successes and be sure to learn from all the mistakes and challenges.  This is one detox of many to come!!
Detox food of the day is Dandelion Greens!!  I loaded my green juices this morning with lots of dandelion greens!!!
My green juice of the day:
2 cucumber
1/2 head celery
1/2 bunch kale
1 bunch dandelion greens
1/2 bunch chard
2 handfuls spinach
1 handful parsley
juice of 2 lemons
2 inches ginger
dash cayenne
dash sea salt

Dandelion greens are more than just your typical backyard flower. They have high levels of iron, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. The leaves of the dandelion have diuretic characteristics and can be used to treat or help cleanse the liver and kidneys. You can incorporate this green into salads or put larger leaves in soups, just make sure to wash them thoroughly first. The best time to find them is usually from April to May and they freeze well too, allowing you to enjoy their benefits all year long.

Dandelion Greens are awesome in juices, smoothies, soups and salads.  Very versatile.  I often put them in my morning smoothie.

My morning smoothie:

8 ounces green juice
4 ounces coconut water
 1/2 cup goji berries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/4 cup coconut meat
2 leaves kale
4 leaves dandelion greens
1 tbsp pure synergy
1 tbsp spirulina
1 scoop acai
1 tbsp dulse

 Afternoon Salad:

sunflower sprouts
pea greens
alfalfa sprouts
arugula
tomatos
pumpkin seeds
lots of shakes of dulse and kelp
chunks of non-gmo organic sprouted tofu (buy at MOMS)

dressing:
1/2 cup flax oil
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup basil
1 cup cilantro
1 clove garlic
1 tsp grated ginger
juice of 1 lime
dash sea salt
dash cayenne

now i'm munching on my chlorella tablets and sipping my kombucha!!

have a great night!!

Another Detox Food- Aloe!!

Aloe is well known today for many reasons, be it for providing soft and supple skin or to help assuage mild burns or probably even help in diaper rash. But, did you know that aloe vera is also a superfood and can be consumed because it provides some really amazing health benefits?
Aloe vera has long been recognized for its superficial effects on our body but now scientists are realizing that this plant is quite a potent superfood as well. Here are some of the benefits it provides:
  • Helps maintain the balance of good bacteria in the intestine so that digestion is good
  • Helps people suffering from allergies and helps in keeping blood sugar normal.
  • Contains trace minerals such as calcium, selenium, zinc, chromium and magnesium, which are really good for health.
  • Polysaccharides help in keeping the immune system healthy.
  • Detoxifies the body and even gets rid of harmful bacteria from the body.
  • Contains sterils, which greatly reduce the risk of atherosclerosis.
  • Helps in healing and preventing fungus infections.
Aloe can be taken in the form of juice, smoothies, soups, dips or even salad dressing and it will provide all the much needed nutrients without a hitch.
The boys and I hit the pool today after camp!!
Do you want to know what was in our snack bag??
Kale chips
Cantaloupe
Grapes
Apple slices with almond butter
Leftover buckwheat hemp pancakes
Lots of water!!

time for bed!!  kelly

Detoxifying CucumberJuice & Pumpkin Seed and Walnut Milk Power Smoothie

Hello cleansers and everyone who wants to eat clean to live well!!

When people typically use cucumbers, they probably slice them to use in salads. Another useful way to use them is in juice form. Cucumber juice is a diuretic with a good amount of fiber that allows for optimal waste removal when consuming. Ingesting the juice provides good amounts of Vitamin A that is beneficial for eyesight, reproduction, and bone growth, and Vitamin D for strong bones. Drinking cucumber juice can help to cool down the body and normalize body temperature, great for the summer months. Make sure to include cucumber juice in your detox to obtain the long list of health benefits

Cucumber juice is the base of the Kelly Detox Tonic available at Puree this week.  Or make it at home:
14 ounces cucumber juice
1-2 ounces wheatgrass juice
1-1.5 ounces of ginger juice
juice of one lemon

I made a batch of pumpkin seed and walnut milk earlier this week which i used for my husband's power smoothie this morning. He is detoxing for two weeks and loves his morning smoothies.  He often has one for dinner too when he gets home late.  Smoothies and blended soups are great for dinner because they are easy to digest.

Pumpkin Seed and Walnut Milk Smoothie

12 ounces homemade pumpkin seed and walnut milk (or any nut/seed milk you have)
1 scoop raw meal
1 scoop sun warrior pea protein
1 tbsp pure synergy
2 frozen bananas
1 cup strawberries
1 dropper toffee stevia
1 tbsp almond butter

This smoothie is definitely a meal replacement smoothie.

After camp today the boys and i went on a bike ride.  The boys took a break to snack on some grapes and buckwheat hemp pancakes (recipe coming soon) i made this morning.  I sipped on my green juice which i had chilling in the cooler in the car.   i always come prepared!!

We came home packed up a picnic and headed to the park to eat before tae kwon doe practice.  The boys helped me make their:

Sunflower Seed and Raspberry Date Spread sandwiches.

2 slices sprouted sesame bread
2 tbsps homemade raspberry date spread (2 cups raspberries, 5 dates soaked for 20 minutes, blend in vitamix till smooth)
2 tbsps raw sunflower seed butter
a few slices of banana

I also took sliced apples with raw almond butter which is what i snacked on.

As you can see i do feed my kids some typical "kid" food but healthier versions of these foods.  You can take any food and kick up the nutrition in it if you get creative!!  For sandwiches we often use a raw banana bread but i did not have any made today.

eat smart, move well and live whole!!

Wheatgrass and Pizza!!

Yes i said wheatgrass and pizza.  read on and you will understand!!

Our next detox food for the week is wheatgrass!

Wheatgrass is great for increasing red blood cells and lowering blood pressure while also revving the metabolism. It can be used to cleanse the body; organs, blood, and gastrointestinal tract of any harmful debris that may be within. Wheatgrass can also be used to heal wounds and increase blood count. It is usually taken in juice form but can also be applied to the skin to treat wounds.
I suggest starting with one ounce every morning.  Gradually increase to 2 ounces in the morning and if you are cleansing or going through a healing crisis kick it up to 2 2 ounce shots per day- one in the morning and one in the late afternoon on an empty stomach.
My "Kelly Detox Tonic" at Puree has 1 ounce of wheatgrass.  Ask them to add an extra shot if you want to kick it up!!   Make sure to add wheatgrass into your cleanse this week! Let me know how it makes you feel!   In my Plant-based Nutrition Immersion Program i teach you everything you need to know to grow your own and optimally benefit from this amazing food.

Fabulous morning workout!!  The body and mind were in sync.  Home for shot of e-3 live and power smoothie:

12 ounces green juice
1 scoop vega protein
1 tsp camu camu
1 tsp blue manna
1 scoop acai powder
1 cup mixed berries
1 frozen banana
3 leaves kale
handful dandelion greens
handful cilantro
1 tbsp dulse

I was working on my new blog/website this afternoon so i did a quickie lunch.  Enjoyed more of my Pesto Salad from yesterday and the Susie Sprout Salad.  I'm a little addicted to the Susie Sprout Salads!!
After camp we headed to the library for new summer reading books and then Mason and I went for a fabulous bike ride.  i love that he likes riding the trails now!!

Tonight the boys and i made some homemade pizza!!

Yes my boys eat pizza and they love every bite.  I get an organic multigrain crust, organic homemade pizza sauce and a vegan rice cheese.  We spend time making it together and that is the most important part- the experience together.  We also make raw pizza together but tonight it was 100% baked pizza.  And no- i do not have any desire to indulge in foods like this.  Once you eat clean for a long time the body has no cravings for foods that most people crave.

Keep on cleansing!!!

Kelly
